Harold L. Hubbard, "Ike", was born in Jonesport in 1942. His family moved to South Portland, Me. when he was 13. With family still in Jonesport he returned each summer to help his aunt and uncle with the blueberry harvest and following his service duty in the Army, returned each fall to deer hunt with his uncle. He has had a deer camp in Mason's Bay since the early 70's.

He and his wife Lois purchased the White family homestead in 1988 and moved permanently to Mason's Bay in 1990, keeping the homestead in the family for over 100 years.

In the spring of 1990, after several prototypes, Ike started the Hubbard Rake Company. The all aluminum rake has changed in design over the years of existence to meet the demand of berry rakers. The totally balanced rake can now be bought in sizes ranging from 12T decorative rake to a 110T working rake.

Items available from the Hubbard Rake Company include: Hand Held Rakes for Harvesting Blueberries, (Low and High Bush), Cranberries, Huckleberries, herbs, seaglass and the horsestall rake.

Hubbard Rake Co. also does custom design & welding.

The shop is located 3.1 miles off Route 1 on the Jonesboro end of Route 187 and is open year round 8am to 3pm. Visitors are always welcome.

A University of Southern Maine graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree and one who could manufacture anything from virtually nothing, he was asked by the local growers to devise a blueberry rake, "that would not break".
